Last run before heading to Skipperville and Auburn for a vacation (Monday) and some recruiting (Tuesday - Thurday). I decided to go for a speed workout at Memorial; 6 repeats of 1.5 minutes hard with 1 minute rest. After a one mile warmup, I started the speed session (also known as a fartlek). During a rest period, a Ironman clad female runner trotted by (Kathlenn!) and I jockeyed back and forth with her as my speed/rest cycles repeated. Towards the end of the workout, I passed Chris Sowers; the Yellow Fever runners were out in force! The run went well, and if things go according to plan, I'll get two runs in at home, and maybe one in at Auburn (something I've never done, but it's about time to plot out an urban path and make it happen).
I attended the HoustonFIT 5k/10k orientation session last night. I'm not yet sure if I'll join the program (I'll miss the first session this weekend), but I'm putting myself on the hook to make that decision before I get back from Auburn.
My feet are feeling decent these days, but despite that, I think I hurt a bit too much when I run. I wonder if my weight, about 8 pounds over my traditional running weight, might be causing me some pain? I think once I get back (so much cake and BBQ to eat while at home) I may try to shave a few pounds off.
I've got a lunch with a work collegue riding on the SuperBowl; gooooo Pats (to cover a 12.5 point spread, if they don't mind)!
